I am SO excited to announce that my third book, HOW TO LOOK HAPPY, is available today in ebook and print! Here’s a blurb about the book:
From bestselling romantic comedy author Stacey Wiedower comes a story about finding love in the social media age…
Jen Dawson is an interior designer at the top of her game, with a job at the South’s hottest design firm and a fiancé who’s on the short list of the city’s most eligible catches. But her perfectly designed plans for her life fall apart when her prima donna boss screws her over and her fiancé dumps her on the same day.
What’s a self-respecting Southern girl to do? …is what she should have asked. Instead, she drowns her troubles in cocktails and then adds trouble of her own by “drunkbooking” a Facebook status that gets her in more hot water at work. As her ex reappears at all the wrong times, Jen’s flirtations heat up with all the wrong men—until she finds the one guy who makes her realize love just isn’t something she can plan. And when she vows to set her life back on track and stage a comeback, Jen uncovers shady business at her design firm that could take down the entire operation…and her, but only if she lets it.
The Inside Scoop
As an interior designer myself, I had SO much fun writing How to Look Happy. I write about homes and spaces every day as a freelance interior design writer, but this is the first time I’ve mixed my fiction writing gig with my day job. It definitely won’t be the last—a second design-related story is already telling itself in my head! The design firm I worked for didn’t look a whole lot like Greenlee Designs (and my boss had virtually nothing in common with Candace Greenlee), but I did put into play loads of things I learned while working there. Like, that part about interior designers being part artist, part therapist? That’s true! They’re also mind-readers, treasure hunters, problem solvers and some of the most efficient shoppers you’ll meet. I guess that’s why I loved writing Jen’s character so much. That and her major weakness for cupcakes…
Unlucky in Love Series
Though it’s a stand-alone book, How to Look Happy shares characters and storylines with my two previously published novels, Now a Major Motion Picture and 30 First Dates. That’s why my wonderful publishing house, Gemma Halliday Publishing, has dubbed these books the “Unlucky in Love” series. I’m planning to put together a graphic for readers who are new to my books that explains how they all work together. But for now, just know that NAMMP and its main characters, Amelia and Noah, are the starting point for the whole web of stories. And more stories are in the works!
